Functional Capacity
Evaluation (FCE) – extensive set of test performed by a licensed
therapist that assess many factors affecting a person’s
ability to perform specific job tasks, physical restrictions,
current Physical Demand Category according to the Dictionary
of Occupational Titles, and activities of daily living. This
includes assessment of strength, flexibility, cardiovascular
endurance, and body mechanics. Functional activities such
as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, reaching and gripping
will be part of the test. All evaluations include objective
validity testing to determine full or sub maximal effort
levels and inconsistent behavior.
Functional capacity evaluations are readily
available in all 50 states. Finalized reports are forwarded
within five (5)
business days from the date of the evaluation. Functional capacity
testing can be performed in one (1) or two (2) day sessions
depending on the request from the referring party. Specific
questions will be addressed in the body of the report along
with the result of the examinees ability to perform specific
job tasks and/or the examinee’s current level of functioning
according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
