Functional Capacity EvaluationsFunctional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) – Extensive set of tests performed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist that assess many factors affecting a person’s ability to perform specific job tasks, physical restrictions, current physical demand rating and/or activities of daily living. An FCE is used to assist employers, physicians, insurance companies, attorneys, case managers and vocational experts/counselors in determining safe functional levels for an individual to either safely return to work or establish “valid” physical abilities. The MLS FCE program incorporates objective and comprehensive evaluations that assess an individual’s ability to perform essential work function as well as allow claims professionals to assess overall medical and lost-time costs. MLS ensures that testing protocols are considered to be the “best practices” among independent evaluations currently available within the industry. The most credible and well-recognized protocols are utilized for any nationwide functional capacity evaluation.
