Impairment Rating Assessment – an
assessment of an impairment rating utilizing the correct
version of
the AMA Guidelines to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
It is unknown to most insurance adjusters that over 90%
of all Permanent Impairment (PI) ratings are inaccurately
issued by practicing physicians. This can be caused by the
physician’s unfamiliarity with the current guidelines,
calculating the rating based on subjective findings, or clearly
determining whether the claimant has reached his or her maximum
medical improvement. This type of inaccuracy by the physician
could cost insurance carriers thousands of dollars in lost
benefits. Therefore, MLS National Medical Evaluation Services
has developed a program that takes the guesswork out of PI
and PPD rating calculations. We have developed a program
that assures accuracy when permanent impairment.
Dr. Christopher
Brigham, M.D., is regarded as one of the nation’s leading
experts on the use of the AMA Guidelines to the Evaluation
of Permanent Impairment. He is a board – certified
physician in the field of occupational medicine and serves
as the Editor-in-Chief for the “AMA Guides Newsletter”.
He is one of the founding directors of the American Board
of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) and is a Fellow
of the American Academy of Disability Evaluation Physicians
(AADEP).
With a recent medical report and pertinent medical information,
Dr. Brigham can assess an accurate rating for permanent impairment.
While making his calculations he properly references all
pertinent documentation from the correct edition of the AMA
Guidelines to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment. If
a rating has already been made by a physician that you think
may be erroneous, Dr. Brigham will re-assess that rating,
issuing a rating that is accurate. He will reference how
he calculated that rating from the proper AMA Guidelines
and briefly explain where the previous rating was calculated
incorrectly. This is a cost-effective service that assures
accuracy and therefore saves you money.
